Dr Cybele Dey is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in private practice on the Lower North Shore of Sydney, consulting at The Family Talks Clinic on Mondays. Dr Dey provides comprehensive psychiatric assessment for children or adolescents with emotional or behavioural problems.
Dr Dey links families with other health professionals and who provide a range of psychotherapies and other interventions that can be helpful for children and adolescents. Dr Dey is a medically qualified doctor with specialist training and experience in the use of psychotropic medication for children and adolescents, however this is considered with the family where other options are insufficient and with the goal of enhancing other non-medication approaches.
She works with therapeutic models where family members’ expertise is valued. Dr Dey sees families with young children to adolescents with problems including Anxiety Disorders and Depressive Disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, developmental factors and medical symptoms including in chronic illness.
Dr Dey completed her undergraduate medical training at the University of Sydney where she graduated with first class honours in1996 and received the prize for first place in Psychiatry and the first place in Medicine .
Dr Dey is a medically qualified doctor who has completed extensive specialist training as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and as a Paediatrician succeeding at all fellowship examinations at her first attempt. She is a Fellow of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of psychiatrists, with a Certificate of Advanced Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and membership of the faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and a Fellow of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians, having gained this in the Paediatric Division.
She now works as a child and adolescent psychiatrist with her public appointment at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and private practice in St Leonards.
In addition to her medical specialist qualifications, Dr Dey has completed the Certificate Program in Family Systems Theory at the Family Systems Institute and a Masters of Psychiatry at the New South Wales Institute of Psychiatry. She has trained in Family Systems Theory and Practice, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Autism assessment, Triple P parenting, Circle of Security Parenting, Interpersonal Therapy for Adolescents and Attachment Based Family Therapy for Depression in adolescents.
Dr Dey has worked in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry since 2001, presented at numerous national and international meetings, written many educational articles and co-edited a textbook in this area.

Dr Cybele Dey works on Tuesday mornings. She is conducting face to face but is not taking on new patients.
