Dr Mohsen Mirzaie

Principal Child, Youth and Family Psychiatrist

MD, MMed(Syd Uni), MPsych(NSWIOP), FRANZCP, Adv Cert Child Adol Psych

I am a Sydney trained Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with a special interest in family orientated practice. I have years of experience in assessment and management of mental health issues in children, adolescents and young adults. I work both in the public and private sectors. In my public appointment, I work as a consultant psychiatrist at the Royal North Shore Community Health Centre consulting OSCA team that is a community-based intensive outpatient team providing care to young people with severe mental illnesses. I also hold a position as a clinical lecturer at The University of Sydney.
Over the past six years I have focused my clinical interest on family therapy. I have completed a graduate diploma in family therapy under supervision of Prof Maurizio Andolfi founder and director of the prestigious Accademia Di Psicoterapia Della Famiglia in Rome. I continue to receive regular supervision from Prof Andolfi.
I am a father of two young boys, who keep me humble when it comes to working with young people and their families. I am also a migrant, which helps me understand what it is like to be part of a minority group, from migrants to members of LGBT community. I assess and treat a range of mental health conditions as well as other life issues which may not be classified as an illness but does affect one’s ability to enjoy and achieve. I don’t like to provide a list of conditions that I see because I believe labels do not help my clients to ascertain what they need. I believe, in order to understand if I can help someone, I need to personally meet them.

Dr Mirzaie works Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. His books are closed to new patients until further notice.
