I am a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, a medically qualified doctor who is committed to delivering the highest standards of professional care by working holistically with children, adolescents, their families and others systems concerning their care to assess and treat the medical, psychological and social aspects of mental health presentations of children and adolescents.
I currently work as a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Child and Adolescent mental health service of South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.
I am passionate about the interplay of the brain with its external and internal environment that drives the neuroplasticity of the developing brain. Parents, peers and school are the most important facets of the external environment. This would essentially mean that I am keen to work towards the pathways to create opportunities for children to build meaningful relationships/attachments with their adult caregivers to enhance their self- formation, and to improve their emotional issues and mental illness.
I have extensive experience in the use of psychopharmacology in a range of mental health issues in children including depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar, psychosis, OCD, schizophrenia.
Although I am highly skilled in the following Psychotherapy skills, I strive to deliver an individualized psychotherapeutic approach to children’s needs while paying due attention to their family systemic and psychopharmacological treatment needs.
